An interactive live performance that takes place inside the mobile heart of New York City: a taxicab. Transporting three audience members only, from a secret location, the Driver guides the passengers on a radical journey through streets both familiar and strange. The windows to the cab become eyes to a vast theatrical landscape as the streets of New York transform into an unending and authentic performance installation, as the lines between what’s real and what’s being staged start to blur. Integrating live performance, sound, video and street action, the show offers a captivating, dark and irreverent view of New York through an intimate and innovative theatrical experience.

Set in Kingston, New York in the present day. Edward Karas, mid-30s, lives alone in a two-story Victorian house worn down by time. He awaits packages from the local mailman containing rocks with locations such as “Baton Rouge, LA” painted upon it in black letters. He has been receiving these as messages from his former lover, an ethereal and mysterious woman named Sparrow who has been driving cross-country and living out of her van. In the loneliness of his empty house, Edward spends some evenings curled up in a fetal position clutching the most recent rock and surrounded by a huge half-circle of about twenty rocks, each with a different town painted on them. An ethereal love story about two souls connecting across time and space.

With 40 on the horizon, in the heart of NYC, Gail abandons her group of yuppie female stay-at-home mom friends for the vibrant and rowdy gay male community. Building a newfound friendship with Bruce, a recent divorcee from his ex-husband, the two attempt to redefine what it means to be single at an age where many – gay and straight – are already steadfastly coupled. Gail creates a new identity for herself, continually inserting herself into situations, often awkwardly comical, where she is always and ever more, the one and only female in a crowd of all gay men.

If we are what we eat, what are we? What is America's food culture, and where is it heading? And ultimately, how does food connect us?
A retelling of the story of Penelope and Odysseus takes us through their separation, time apart and reunion using food as the emotional bridge between them. The story begins in Ancient Greece and ends in 2014, and the events of The Odyssey become metaphors for changes in the food industry, exploring our relationship to what we eat. As the play progresses, characters from the past and present intersect and as their food cultures collide, culminating in a feast shared by the actors and the audience.

A NOTE FROM THE CREATORS OF THE MINIONS
"We are thrilled to present this work after a year of tireless effort from the cast and crew and hundreds of individual donors offering their support across a very successful online crowd-funding campaign. We had the great fortune of bringing on an immensely talented cast, including Lukas Hassel (Into the Dark, Man About Town, In Montauk), Robin Rose Singer, Cristina Doikos, and Lauren Fox (The Days God Slept, Darren Aronofsky's Pi). The film is an entrance into the mind of a troubled man, or perhaps, the audience does not know this yet... THE MINIONS is based on a true incident. The story is about being thrust into a desperate situation that requires mutual trust between strangers. Given the volatility of the circumstances and the uneasy state of mind of the characters, a lot can go wrong. And does. Living in New York, many of have had the experience of talking to someone and slowly realizing that they are 'not quite right'. THE MINIONS allows us to explore this in the context of a very scary story. William's reactions move from reasonable to questionable to frightening as the girls' need for his help grows. In our film, we explore just how well thought out and reasonable insanity can be. We sincerely hope that you enjoy the ride." -Joseph Fiorillo (writer), Jeremiah Kipp (director), & Lauren Rayner (producer)
A homeless woman. A writer. A waitress. A pickpocket. Long-lost lovers. In this devised piece based on the ensemble’s response to living in a city, we explore how human beings interact in a constantly evolving urban landscape.

In the 2012 New York City revival of this classic French masterpiece, Jean-Paul Sartre describes "hell" as other people. Those who are watching us, judging us, keep us awake. Forever the three characters are forced to live together and to torture in turn. Their hell gradually takes shape before their eyes as they reveal their lives and their tastes and cowardice. Performed in the original French text with subtitles in English.

“A beguiling and enchanting piece of theatre. A ride not quite like anything else.” - NYTheatre
The story of a young girl determined to auction off her virginity. What starts off as a simple bid to re-pay student loans turns into a mass media frenzy, and soon countries are bidding against each other in order to obtain the girl's elusive innocence. Presented as an immersive experience for the audience, the show is an investigation of our society's ease with women's exploitation in our pop-culture world and our acceptance of a skewed view of sexuality as it is portrayed in the media.

Adapted from the novel BEAUTIFUL GARBAGE, this book trailer is set in the still dangerous lower east side of NYC in the 1980s and tells the story of Jodi Plum, a figurative artist who falls into a circle of high class prostitutes focusing on her relationship with a high-class call girl Monica. The novel questions the notion of being an artist -- its devastations, myths, cliches, as well as the commercialization of art in a world where everything is for sale.

Take two blondes, a dead man walking and dancing, a goldfish found ‘belly up’, and you will end up with a recipe for disaster.
A dark comedy in which two completely clueless blondes deal with a dead body on stage, originally written in French, with the title “Le Poisson Rouge”. Performed in both French and English, depending on the evening you attend. The satirical comedy mixes theater, mime and dance in what can only be described as an hour-long blonde joke.

"Lauren Rayner Productions should be applauded for doing these non-mainstream works and reminding us just how good we have it... and don't.” -NY Theatre
Eugene Ionesco's The Future is in Eggs and Luigi Pirandello's Sicilian Limes, two forgotten modernist plays that are incredibly relevant in an age of economic scarcity, political pessimism, and cultural disaffection. Through strong improvisational-based acting and a cutting-edge use of technology, a night of "Deadly Serious Comedies" united the stylistically disparate one-acts into a coherent expression of hopeful defiance, one that entertains while simultaneously challenging the audience's perceptions about love, money, and personal fulfillment.

“Compassion, passion, vulnerability, openness, and intensity: here, Mendacity takes its cue. A one-woman show about rape might seem like a downer. Not so with Rayner's Mendacity. Leaves us with the hope that comes from struggle and survival.” -The Huffington Post
In a rebellious journey of fragmented transcendence and the offering of hope, Mendacity takes you deep inside the mind of a splintering personality, peppered with dark humor and wrought with self-loathing and denial over sexual assault. According to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN), about 80% of rape cases in the United States are women aged 24 and under, and that statistic becomes even more staggering when we realize that most sexual assaults of young women go unreported out of fear, disgust, shame, and denial. This is strictly a not-for-profit production. Box office proceeds directly benefit RAINN.
